According to a study by the US Mafo Institute dscout, we touch our smartphone an average of 2,617 times a day and use it for an average of 145 minutes! 94 subjects were monitored 24 hours a day for five days. Every unblock, every swipe, every chat, and every like on Instagram, Facebook, or other channels was counted. This shows that we have become insanely dependent on our smartphones.
But the question also arises, how often do we use our cell phones to make calls?
10x or 20x a day? So still far from the 76 average sessions per day. If we only remembered to make phone calls, we would likely have 1-2 hours more daily.
But as always, distraction is just a flick of the wrist away, even if we make it a point. So as long as we have a smartphone, we'll urgently need to check something out;) That's the way we are.
So the idea of stupid cell phones is brilliant! And one of them I find particularly exciting: The Light Phone. It costs $150, is the size of a credit card, and they've shipped several thousand. Take a look!
